Capitanes Generales Palace, Havana City


 Former the Government Palace, now Museum of the City.
Address: Tacon # 1 between Obispo and O'Reilly. La Habana Vieja.
Original Use: Headquarters for Governor, Prison and residence of the Captains General.
Date of construction: 1776-1791
Authors: Antonio Fernandez Trevejos and Pedro de Medina.
Current intervention: Start in 2009


Exponent of the eighteenth century Cuban architecture, was erected in the same place where the Parish of the ville was built. Following the completion of its work in 1834, underwent several renovations. In 1930 Govantes and Cabarrocas were constructively involved in the renovation of this building, removing the plaster that covered the walls and giving current expression

With a total built area of approximately 7500 square meters and has a relative height of 17.60 meters from the curb to the railing of the deck (depending on the slopes with respect to the sidewalk).

The building has 4 main facades, being the Tacon Street the main one, with a Corridor and large arches and columns.

General Guidelines in the Technical Project Executive

-Diagnostics, repair and reinforcement of the structure of the deck and other horizontal structures and reconstruction of the pluvial system 
-Diagnosis, repairs cracks and crevices in walls and other architectural elements.
-Diagnosis, overhaul, repair and installation of hydraulic and sanitary networks. Adaptation the new requirements.
-Diagnosis, overhaul, repair and installation of electrical networks. Adaptation the new requirements.
-Examination, repair and restoration carpentry in general, with emphasis on the facade.
-Diagnosis and repair of floors, ceilings, metalwork and other architectural elements.
-Diagnosis of intruder protection system and fire and conditioning to the new requirements.
-Diagnosis and preparation of other weak currents.
