As Chief Architect, I worked in the project on this first stage, this is one of the most important building of Cuba. At this stage defined the general lines of intervention and the returning to original use of the building.
The Capitol building covers a total area of 43 418 square meters, of which 13 484 corresponds to the building and 26 391 square meters to the surrounding area of gardens and parks. The remaining 3 543 square meters is dedicated to the expansion of streets and sidewalks adjacent to the building. The total length of the building is 207.44 meters. Its architectural composition and volume was structured from a central body composed of the monumental staircase of 35.90 meters wide by 27.43 meters long. It presents a total of 55 steps interrupted by three breaks in between.
